Religious leaders & K-Pop idols.

There are outrageous similarities between these two groups in terms of audience reception. Here are some examples:

  • Their private lives are made public: who they date, what they wear, and sin... are topics that ignite public discussions and bond tribes.
  • They have to wear certain manners and clothes to brand a certain image. Incongruity is not welcomed.
  • They can be the attention of love one day, and of extreme hate the other, because the public is generally not tolerant when they make a mistake.
  • What they (might) say are printed into posters and sell as merch.
  • They are fantasized as 'perfect' and 'holy'.

Being a monk, a singer, a priest, or a TV host... they all sound like damned jobs suffocated by demands to please the public with traditions, perfection, and constancy. Yet I believe this is a prime time for the (human) world to get more practice on handling innovation, darkness, and change.
