A delightful metube list.
[I am continuing to update this list]
A friend asked me for Youtube recommendations to break his Youtube algorithm rabbit hole, so here are the stuff that delighted me (in no specific order):
- meaningful vlogs: Ryan Ng Films
- (sometimes horror) comedy: brian david gilbert
- docu-reality comedy: Nathan For You
- art + amazing editing: Gawx Art
- art + cooking from The Art Assignment
- art + studio vlogs: furrylittlepeach
- art + personal growth + sometimes documentaries: struthless
- adventures + philosophy: Damon Dominique
- advice for artists: JackConteExtras
- culture commentary: Mina Le
- bookstores + how to read more (a documentary): Max Joseph
- performance poetry: When Love Arrives specifically and Button Poetry in general
- spirituality + sexuality: Hitomi Mochizuki
- slow living: TheCottageFairy
- eating well: Pick Up Limes
- Therapy in a Nutshell
- talks on how to make game
- wanting to be supportive of myself: kittyology
In constructing this list, I realized that I love seeing people doing art, being boldly honest, and diligently honing their crafts. These contents clearly required a ton of effort although they might be shot with a low-grade camera in poorly-lit environment (which I love). To my surprise, despite my gravitation towards a zen life, I also don't consume slow wholesome stuff on Youtube, perhaps because I rather have those moments in real life instead of watching people having them online.
We can learn so deeply about our own aspirations, values, habits and voices by noticing what we consume. Gift me your list of metube if you ever make one!
